Youth Funding Youth Ideas (YFYI) is a youth-led program of Communities in Harmony Advocating for Learning and Kids (CHALK) that funds youth-led projects in San Francisco that benefit the community. YFYI is composed of 15 youth from various backgrounds between the ages of 14-18. Our youth staff makes funding decisions of up to $10,000 per youth project, totaling $150,000 per year. Our staff consists of Program Officers and Youth Evaluators. |

YFYI is a firm believer of youth leadership. We believe that youth are capable of doing extraordinary things. As long as they are given the proper tools and support, youth are capable of taking on the same responsibilities as adults. The proof is in the facts. Since YFYI began, we have funded over 200 projects and have affected the lives of hundreds of people in our community. All the youth in San Francisco who have been part of YFYI or have been part of a project funded by us have tremendously impacted our community through youth leadership. We believe that when youth are given the opportunity to take initiative, change is possible. The youth are our tomorrow, and YFYI believes in youth empowerment. The much needed change that we all have sought in our communities is happening through YFYI today.
